| Hello stephan@zorbas.de, Excuse me! Again another newsletter. But as I have just learned, from May 13th to 20th the 'Kardamili International Jazz Festival Peloponnese' will take place. There is a flyer with more information and if you can read norwegian check out also http://sarpjazz.no/ I think this had to be announced as early as possible - right? With this motif the perhaps most beautiful webcam is finally back online. The camera above the old port of Kardamyli. The daily, monthly resp. annual archives of all cameras should also work again. Sometimes it is really not so easy to handle this tech stuff... Please use the possibility to rate accommodation on our website. Maybe you already know some. Constructive criticism - positive as well as negative - is just helpful: it helps us to better convey the accommodation, it helps the owners to see the importance of details or improve them, and, last but not least, it helps the tenants to make the right decision for their holiday. You will find the evaluation form at the end of each individual accommodation page. Your rating will be published without being reviewed within a few minutes. But I reserve the right to delete inadequate comments. Now I would like to tell you something completely different. We live in turbulent times and we realize that democracy is not a matter of course. And now I was confronted with the term 'hereditary democracy' a few days ago. Hereditary democracy! I've literally fallen out of the clouds when I heard this expression for the first time. A spontaneous Google search for this word revealed as a first hit a mirror article regarding India. But now you want to know for sure how I got to this topic. But it came to pass at that time (last Monday evening) that I sat at Dimitri's in the 'Palio Bostani'. At the next table, two Greeks were talking. Among other things I heard in their conversations this expression: "κληρονομήκή δημοκρατία" - Hereditary democracy. It may be that you now consider all this to be somewhat tipsy nonsense, but for me it just had a real aha effect. Here, not taken so profound literally. In Greece it is quite quite obvious. In Germany surely more veiled and probably also mostly denied, probably in the UK somehow similar. You can now think long or short about it. I haven't thought very long about it, so here is my conclusion: We are not independent and certainly not free. Not at all. But that's it. I don't find this really bad. But I am glad that I am aware of it. I used to wear a T-shirt, but the statement is actually more appropriate on a gravestone (the one of Nikos Kazantzakis): "Δεν ελπίζω τίποτα, δε φοβούμαι τίποτα, είμαι λέφτερος." - I hope for nothing. I fear nothing. I am free. On mine should be written: "It is much later than you think." More news:

Es gibt einen Flyer mit mehr Informationen und wenn man norwegisch lesen kann, findet man noch mehr unter http://sarpjazz.no/ Ich finde, das musste so früh wie möglich angekündigt werden - oder? Mit diesem Motiv die vielleicht schönste Webcam ist endlich wieder online. Die Kamera oberhalb des alten Hafens von Kardamyli. Auch die Tages- Monats- bzw. Jahresarchive aller Kameras sollten wieder funktionieren. Man hat es manchmal wirklich nicht leicht mit der Technik... Nutzen Sie doch bitte die Möglichkeit Unterkünfte auf unserer Webseite zu bewerten. Vielleicht kennen Sie ja die eine oder andere. Konstruktive Kritik - positiv aber auch negativ - ist einfach nur nützlich: Sie nützt uns, die Unterkunft besser zu vermitteln, sie nützt den Besitzern, die Wichtigkeit von Details zu sehen oder gegebenenfalls zu verbessern und nicht zuletzt nützt sie den Mietern, die richtige Entscheidung für den Urlaub zu treffen. Sie finden das Bewertungsformular am Ende jeder einzelnen Unterkunftsseite. Ihre Bewertung wird innerhalb weniger Minuten unbesehen veröffentlicht. Aber ich behalte mir vor, inadäquate Kommentare einfach zu löschen. Nun möchte ich Ihnen aber noch etwas ganz anderes erzählen. Wir leben in bewegten Zeiten und stellen fest, dass Demokratie keine Selbstverständlichkeit ist. Und nun wurde ich vor einigen Tagen mit dem Begriff 'Erbdemokratie' konfrontiert. Erbdemokratie! Ich bin förmlich aus den Wolken gefallen, als ich dieses Wort zum ersten mal hörte. Eine spontane Google-Suche nach diesem Wort ergab als ersten Treffer einen Spiegel-Artikel vom 9.11.1955. Aber nun wollen Sie sicher wissen, wie ich darauf komme. Es begab sich aber zu der Zeit (letzten Montag Abend), dass ich bei Dimitri im 'Palio Bostani' saß. Am Nebentisch unterhielten sich zwei Griechen. Unter den Gesprächsfetzen die ich aufnahm, war eben auch dieser Ausdruck: "κληρονομήκή δημοκρατία" - Erbdemokratie. Mag sein, dass Sie dies jetzt alles für weinseligen Unsinn halten, aber für mich bewirkte der Ausdruck tatsächlich einen richtigen Aha-Effekt. Dabei gar nicht so fürchterlich wörtlich genommen. In Griechenland aber ist es ganz offensichtlich. In Deutschland etwas verschleierter und wohl auch meist verleugnet, wahrscheinlich in Großbritannien ganz ähnlich. Da kann man nun lange oder auch kurz drüber nachdenken. Ich habe nicht sehr lange darüber nachgedacht, daher mein Fazit: Wir sind nicht unabhängig und schon gar nicht frei. Ganz und gar nicht. Aber so ist es halt. Wirklich schlimm finde ich das nicht. Aber ich bin froh, daß ich mir nun dieser Tatsache wieder ein Stückchen bewusster bin. Früher einmal trug ich ein T-Shirt, tatsächlich passender ist die Aussage aber auf einem Grabstein (dem von Nikos Kazantzakis) "Δεν ελπίζω τίποτα, δε φοβούμαι τίποτα, είμαι λέφτερος." - Ich erhoffe nichts.
